During the summer of 2009, Juxtapoz visited the Tokyo studio of famed Japanese photographer Yasumasa “Yone” Yonehara for a profile story it ran in its January 2010 issue. While there, Juxtapoz also captured some video footage in Super 8 format of a photoshoot that Yone was preparing for a certain Japanese pop magazine. Now, several years later, the film has finally been developed and released online for your viewing pleasure.

Free calls for M1 subscribers tomorrow

SINGAPORE - MOBILE service provider M1 will be providing free local mobile calls, SMS and MMS to all customers on 25 May 2011.

The company will be extending this free service as a form of goodwill, in light of the recent unexpected technical failure on a card in one of their customer management servers.

A number of M1 customers were unable to connect to their network on 18 May 2011 due to this disruption.

This offer will commence from 12am to 11.59pm of 25 May 2011.

The free calls, SMS and MMS will not be deducted from the free minutes and messages in customers' existing mobile service plans.

M1 also indicated that they will work to further improve the robustness of their network.

Jaguar C-X75 Supercar to be launched in late 2013

Jaguar has confirmed that its gorgeous C-X75 supercar concept will be heading into production and should be hitting a road near you by late 2013. The concept car received overwhelming praise since its debut last year at the 2010 Paris Auto Show. The car is jointly developed by Williams Formula 1 team and parent company Tata Motors.

Williams in particular will be providing insight gathered from the world of F1 racing, namely, its aerodynamic design capability, efficient powertrain technology and carbon fiber construction expertise. The new eco supercar will be built around a full carbon fiber chassis, which could see the car's final curb weight come in at less than 3,000 pounds. This should ensure not only stunning performance but also stellar fuel economy.
The microturbine technology previewed in the original C-X75 concept won’t make it to production in time for the 2013 deadline. Instead, the production version will initially feature a plug-in hybrid setup with dual electric motors, a downsized internal combustion engine and all-wheel drive. However, both Jaguar and its parent company Tata have confirmed their commitment to microturbine technology in cars, which means we could eventually see the new Jaguar supercar fitted with the jet engine based powertrain.
As for the plug-in hybrid system, it’s thought that Jaguar will employ a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, similar to the design to be adopted by Williams and other F1 teams in 2013. This downsized engine will be used to charge up an array of lithium-ion batteries which will power the car's two electric motors. Jaguar describes the system as being a parallel hybrid, which means this compact internal combustion engine should also drive the wheels along with the two electric motors. The car can either be driven at pure electric mode with a range of up to 30 miles or hybrid mode where the internal combustion engine works in parallel with the dual electric motors.
Jaguar promises that fuel economy will be comparable to a compact hybrid sedan on sale today, which means a combined fuel economy of around 40 mpg. Despite this frugality, performance will be world-beating. Some initial specs are a 0-60 mph time of less than 3.0 seconds, a 0-100 mph time of less than 6.0 seconds and a top speed in excess of 200 mph. To make sure that handling compliments the high speed, the new Jaguar supercar will also feature advanced torque vectoring technology, active suspension and carbon ceramic brakes.

A tale of two Rios

Kia has unveiled the North American version of the Kia Rio sedan at the New York International Auto Show in the US. The compact sedan shares the same platform as the Kia K2 unveiled at Auto Shanghai a couple of days ago but it features a face that more closely resembles the Kia Rio hatch. The chassis and undercarriage of the Kia Rio sedan is largely the same as that found on the hatch version. Similarly, the interior is configured in much the same way as the hatch, with minor revisions here and there.

The 2012 Rio is longer, wider and lower than the previous generation model, measuring 4366mm long, 1,720mm wide and 1,455mm high. Kia said that thanks to the use of high-tensile-strength steel, the new Rio offers increased torsional stiffness for improved handling, ride quality and refinement while reducing overall weight.

In the USA, the new Rio is powered by a 135HP 1.6-litre GDI four-cylinder engine with the option of either a six-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic. Kia said that the new Rio is estimated to return mileage of 7.8L/100km for city driving and 5.8L/100km in the highway. The Rio will be offered with Kia’s start-stop ISG technology.

Going on to the Chinese market, the redesigned Rio borrows the aggressive styling seen on the Optima. I would even call it a miniaturized Kia Optima. Under the hood, two petrol engines will be available, namely the Gamma 1.4 litre (108 bhp) and 1.6 litre (133 bhp) units. It seems that the Chinese Rio will not benefit from GDI technology, unlike its American twin. Measuring 4,370 mm (overall length) by 1,700 mm (overall width) by 1,460 mm (overall height), the car is longer but slimmer than the US Rio.

Hyundai’s fuel cell concept

The 2011 Seoul Motor Show that runs in South Korea from March 31 to April 10 plays host to the world premiere of the all-new Hyundai Blue2 concept study. The name, which is to be read ‘Blue square’, is a combination of Hyundai’s sub eco-brand ‘Blue Drive’ and the number `2’ from H2, the symbol for hydrogen gas. Codenamed HND-6, the prototype is Hyundai’s first sedan styled Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV).

The four door saloon is powered by a fuel cell electric system that produces 121hp and returning a fuel economy of 34.9km/ℓ of hydrogen. The concept is also equipped with low-resistance tires and alloy wheels which are designed to improve aerodynamic performance. In addition to the fuel cell technology highlights, the Blue2 sedan also hints at a possible direction for the South Korean firm’s next design language, albeit in a futuristic form.

The car’s interior styling continues the futuristic look of the exterior and comes packed with features such as a unique info-entertainment system operated by a Motion Sensor Moustick, a haptic wheel and motion sensor that respond to the driver’s touch and hand movements. Local Kia distributor has just announced the arrival of the new Kia Forte hatchback, fresh off the back of the recently-revised Forte models with new six-speed gearboxes earlier this year.

Oddly enough, as I was driving the six-speed Cerato Forte the other day, I was wondering to myself, when will Kia bring in the Forte hatchback, if at all.

And lo and behold, they have done!

It promises to be exciting times ahead for fans of Korean-made cars. Chevrolet and Kia fired the first salvos earlier this year with revised versions of their Cruze and Cerato Forte sedans respectively.

Hyundai was prepared to hit back with the launch of their new Avante replacement (which will re-use the Elantra name once again) in the next couple of months, but Kia pulled off another trick by releasing the Forte hatchback.

We're expecting the Cruze hatchback before this year is out too, so all three manufacturers are most certainly battling hard for the consumer's dollar.

I guess especially so now with COE prices showing no signs of coming down, Korean carmakers have to fight even harder for a decreasing slice of the Singapore automotive pie.

Which can only mean more choices for us. Now, would that be a good thing or a bad thing

Katy Perry does everything to keep our eyes focused on her all the time. She writes new songs, wears sassy and flashy outfits, poses for magazine covers, gives frank interviews, etc. And now she has decided to try a new thing for her – doing an ad campaign. She has recently become the face of ghd brand and campaign has already been shot. There are few pics you can see so far, unfortunately, but I hope others will come out soon.

On adverts for ghd brand Katy Perry looks glamorous and sexy. At one of the campaign pictures Katy is featured sitting on a huge bed in a room full of roses. She wears a feminine gown with an unusual neckline teamed up with a belt embellished with studs and a pair of pumps in a matching color. Right behind the singer there are styling products produced by ghd. They are just the background but clearly visible.

The second photo shows Katy Perry relaxing by the pool. Her clothing isn’t for the place of course but she looks good. I love that orange skirt.

What alerted me was her interview for May 2011 issue of Harper’s Bazaar in which she revealed her thoughts about Alexander McQueen marionetting her from heaven. The singer said the fashion designer had ‘fashion strings in his hands’ and planned lots of things for her. She mentioned that right after his death she wrote her hit song Born This Way and it was McQueen who helped her.

Lady Gaga said:

"I think he planned the whole thing: Right after he died, I wrote ‘Born This Way.’ I think he’s up in heaven with fashion strings in his hands, marionetting away, planning this whole thing.”

She tried to prove her words by saying it was her label’s, not her own, decision to release the song at the exact day of the one-year anniversary of McQueen’s death:

"When I heard that, I knew he planned the whole damn thing. I didn’t even write the f*cking song. He did!”

Talking to a representative from Harper’s Bazaar Lady Gaga said her famous horns were not actually prosthetics, they were her bones which tended to appear when she was inspired.

For so many years in succession and from so many stylists I’ve heard that horizontal stripes are complete evil that ruins slim shape and makes one look fat even if she is naturally very slender. I always obeyed the rule without even checking if it was really that bad to wear hoops. However, a couple of days ago I read an article about a research based on the sliming effects of horizontal stripes and I was shocked to know that all my life I missed the opportunity to look great in stripes only because someone told me those were bad for appearance of my body. Now I say: GIRLS, HORIZONTAL STRIPES ARE SLIMMING AND FLATTERING!

Of course I couldn’t believe I was such a fool for such a long period of time and googled photos of stars wearing hoops. They did look very good in those. Alas and hurray!

NFL Combien players will be made to wear an Under Armour shirt equipped with an accelerometer as well as heart and breathing monitors, that will let trainers and scouts view more than just their appearance on the field. According to Wired, the Under Armour E39 shirt is made from the same material as its other compression gear, and weighs less than 4.5 ounces -- even with the bright yellow puck stitched just below the chest. An addition is the removable sensor pack called a "bug" which comes with a triaxial accelerometer, a processor and two gigabytes of storage. The E39 collects and shares the player’s performance via Bluetooth to the trainers smartphones, iPads and laptops. Through that trainers can see how powerful each athlete is as well as monitor their heart-rate and breathing-rate. The shirt's accelerometer monitors the body in parts; for example, it senses the left and right leg independently, so that athletes can find the smallest inefficiencies in their movements and fix them.

After testing it at this weekend's Combine workouts, Under Armour will put the shirt on contracted players and teams before letting non-contracted teams give it a try and eventually, regular folks will be able to buy one of them, so that we too can monitor our (un)fit self.

Victoria has spoken about her dream to have a daughter for a few times. Last year she said:

The baby is due in the summer but according to the couple’s close friends Victoria and David don’t want to know the sex of the child before it is born. Senner Tuning's 499bhp Audi RS5

We already know that the newly launched Audi RS5 is a pretty fabulous car. Actually, it is pretty fabulous driven in isolation as if you try one against its smaller sibling, the supercharged S5 (cabriolet), it doesn't gain much ground as all of its power and torque comes in high up the rev range. Usually a 4.2liter normally aspirated V8 is stupendous but a supercharged 3.0liter V6performs just as well due to the torque it produces. And so, to avoid embarrassment, a RS5 owner can head over to Senner Tunning for their latest RS5 tuning package.

To fend off other Audis, Porsches and other Uber-wagens the 4.2liter FSI V8 gets an ECU upgrade and a valve controlled stainless steel exhaust system. From more precise monitoring and fuelling, as well as that freer flow exhaust system the RS5 now makes 499bhp instead of 444bhp and more importantly 478Nm of torque. Up from 430Nm previously. It should make the RS5 hustle slightly faster than before. It does, as the RS5 gets to 100km/h from zero in 4.2seconds. Down from 4.6 seconds. The maximum speed is also increased as the limiter is lifted from the usual German 250km/h limit to 280km/h. 300km/h is another option that could be had with a tire upgrade.

So after the 50bhp power upgrade, Senner Tuning shoves 20inch wheels under the arches of the RS5. 9.5inch x 20 up front and 11inch x 20 at the rear. Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tires are the rubbers and the tires are 255/30R20 fronts and 295/25R20 at the rear. The 20inch alloys come in the Spider SC1 design and the Varianza T1S design. The display car featured the Spider on the driver's side and the Varianza on the passenger side. I suppose Senner Tuning were a little lazy for the photo shoot. Do note that the car is a left hand drive model, and the driver's seat is in the 'wrong' side of the car.

The Senner Tuning RS5 package is rounded up by carbon fiber side mirrors, a front grille and windo frames in their Black Edition trim. The interior gets the usual carbon fiber bits and pieces as well as the usual leather trimming for the seats, steering and door panels.

So the RS5 gets 50bhp. The S4 gets about the same from a tuning package and more torque. It usually is the case for blown engines to make more power than a normally aspirated one. Even one as good as the RS5. However, the one very important thing I have to add it the V8 makes a stonkingly marvelous sound that no supercharged V6 can every dream of achieving. Its all about the whole experience, not only all out power. But the 50bhp that the Senner Tuning RS5 makes is very much appreciated for RS5 owners who wants to play Top Trumps with the guys at the golf club.

Nissan has unveiled an all new Sunny at the China Motor Show in Guangzhou, and the company intends to sell the car in 170 markets worldwide

The car was shown at the China International Automobile Exhibition in Guangzhou, and replaces the Chinese-market Sunny that has been sold since 2003. However, Nissan claims it will market the car in over 170 countries worldwide, under various names, and the car will be produced at its partner Dongfeng Nissan's Huadu factory in Guangzhou, and go on sale in China from January.

The new car has conservative styling, with its prominent shoulder line and swept-back headlights, and taillights mimicking the Teana luxury saloon. Inside, the Sunny features a circular theme, with round shapes used for the air vents, door handles, and climate control system.

The new Sunny is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 108bhp and 148Nm of torque, mated to an Xtronic continually variable transmission (CVT) that promises to deliver "superior environmental performance." The Sunny also has MacPherson struts suspension up front and a torsion beam for the rear suspension.

Bad Girl Taylor Momsem Loses Job As Model

Taylor Momsem, whose style evolved from girlie cute to messy rock, has lost her modeling job with IMG. Representatives from the agency do not comment on the situation but it’s not hard to understand why they decided to terminate the contract.

The modeling agency IMG spotted the girl at the age of 14. Since that time Taylor Momsem has done campaigns for Madonna’s Material Girl collection as well as the British clothes chain New Look.

Now being just 17, Taylor Momsem loses the job with one of the best modeling agencies that also work with Kate Moss and Gisele Bundchen. And all this due to Taylor’s controversial behavior. By the way, her actions have already become the reason she was dropped from Gossip Girl. But she definitely doesn’t want to change.

Instead of Taylor Momsem Dakota Fanning has signed up with IMG. And she will definitely be a better choice.

Talking about her way of dressing Taylor Momsem said:

I dress for myself. Clearly, it’s provocative, but it makes me feel good. Brits Buy Bikinis To Get Rid of Depression Caused by Cold Weather

I know how ridiculous it sounds but people in Britain do buy more bikinis as temperature drops lower and lower. Debenhams bosses can’t find reasonable explanation why this is happening. But there are at least two suppositions. First, the amazing tendency is inspired by photos of celebrities frolicking on sandy beaches in warm countries. And second, the British are just trying to get rid of depression caused by unprecedented cold winter.

Either way, figures released are shocking. While in some parts of Britain temperatures fall down to -27C, department store Debenhams has seen bikini sales increase by 20%.

Designer Elizabeth Hurley, who’s recently launched her first ever swimwear range also discovered a boost in sales.

She tweeted:

Interestingly, bikini sales are UP! Girls must be fleeing to sunnier climes for the holidays.”

Carie Barkhuizen, spokesperson for Debenhams commented:

With temperatures feeling colder than Antarctica the last thing you would think people would be buying was swimwear. The figures are even more remarkable when you consider the huge increase we saw at this time last year when the weather was also bad.”

AMG adds a new family member - The CLS

On the eve of the LA Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the 2012 CLS63 AMG, the bi-turbo V8 version of the second generation original four door coupe.

AMG's mighty 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 is finding a home in nearly every new Mercedes product. Fitted to the CLS63, the blown mill is good for 518 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque in standard form. Customers can opt for the AMG Performance Package which will tune up the boost from 14.5 to 18.8 psi, resulting in a rise in output to 550 hp and 590 lb-ft of twist.

Equipped with AMG's seven-gear "Speedshift" MCT automatic tranny, the CLS63 takes an estimated 4.4 seconds for the century sprint in standard guise and 4.3 seconds with the AMG package. Top speed also rises from 155 to 186 mph with the performance upgrade.

In addition to the reworked engine and transmission, the front axle has been widened by nearly an inch. AMG also fitted its independent adaptive suspension with electronic damping complete with three-stage traction control system. The footwear for the CLS63 AMG comes in the form of 19 inch five-spoke wheels wrapped in 255/35 tires in front and 285/30 at the back. The brake discs are 14.2-inch in size, drilled and ventilated.

A special "Launch Edition" will be available when the CLS63 goes on sale this coming summer. It has a matte grey exterior while the interior has a mix of carbon fiber and piano black interior trim. It also comes with alcantara headliner and AMG sports seats wrapped in leather.

Lamborghini's Sesto Elemento (sixth Element), the carbon fiber beauty that debuted at the Paris Motor Show two months ago, has reportedly been given the green light for production according to Auto Moto’s website, a French automotive program.

However, only a limited production of 7 to 10 units will be built. At the Paris Motor show, the concept show car was featured with a naturally-aspirated 5.2 liter V10 engine from the LP 570-4 Superleggera with 562 bhp. The car has a curb weight of just 999 kg due to its extensive use of carbon and carbon-fiber reinforced plastics, which includes a carbon-fiber monocoque structure. The Sesto Elemento comes with a permanent all-wheel drive transmission with a power-to-weight ratio of 1.75 kilograms per horsepower. The 0 to 100 km/ sprint time is clocked in at 2.5 seconds, while top speed is reported as 350 km/h prior to the Paris unveiling.

The Sesto Elemento comes with an estimated price tag of €2.5 million. Who knows, a unit of this exotic supercar might end up in the garage of a Singapore’s millionairs

Citroen Metropolis concept heads for production

Citroën's CEO of Asian operations, Gregoire Olivier, has revealed that the company is planning a production version of the Metropolis concept car to compete against German luxury brands, primarily in China.

The sporty looking limousine, which will most likely be called the DS9, will be built by PSA/Peugeot-Citroën's joint venture with Changan Automobile Group in China. Olivier did not reveal the estimated production volume or a market launch date for the production version of the Metropolis. Introduction of the DS9 to markets outside China is not known at the moment. However, PSA executives have noted that they are not sure if they'll sell a hybrid version of the car in China, which leads to speculation that the DS9 could be offered in other markets including Europe as the firm's flagship model.

The Metropolis concept car is the creation of Citroën's international design team that is based in Shanghai since 2008. Even though it is built on the same platform as the Citroen C6 and Peugeot 508, the imposing limousine measures an impressive 5.3m in length, 2.0m in width and 1.4m in height, making it larger than the long wheel-base version of the new Audi A8.

In concept form, the Metropolis features a hybrid powertrain comprising of a 2.0-liter V6 engine with an electric motor, connected to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission At low speeds, the concept can run in pure electric mode with the battery-powered motor delivering a continuous 55bhp and a peak output of 95bhp. According to Citroen, the V6 engine churns out 272bhp with 375Nm of torque .When additional performance is required, the car uses both the powerplants to deliver a maximum output of 460bhp and 430Nm of torque. It also features a four-wheel drive mode for when extra grip is needed.
